VICAM RECEIVES MAGELLAN AWARD FOR PR CAMPAIGN
Biotechnology publicity program earns top honors in leading communications competition
WATERTOWN, MA (January 12, 2004) –– VICAM, a world leader in agricultural biotechnology and bioseparations, received an award from the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) for their bi-lingual press release entitled “Aflatoxin Testing Method Selected as Official Method of Mexico/Método De Análisis De Aflatoxina Seleccionado Como Método Oficial De México”. Adding to the significant number of design and communications awards VICAM has received, the Magellan Award further distinguishes VICAM for their outstanding achievement in the practice of Public Relations.

VICAM shared top awards with multinational Fortune 500 players including Michelin North America, Volvo, and Hershey's Chocolate (executed by Edelman Worldwide) as well as full-service public relations agencies like Ruder Finn PR. This silver-level decoration was given in the category of “Product/Service Communications – Business-to-Business,” for companies with revenue under $1 billion. Campaigns were judged in several communications categories based on the
size of the entity behind the campaign. Categories included, but were
not limited to, First Impression, Communications Goals Clarity, Target
Audience Definition, Key Messaging, Campaign Execution and Campaign
Results.
In its competition class "Product/Service Communications, Business-to-Business", VICAM, drew considerable honors, ranking 3rd of all entrants. On a point scale, VICAM's numeric score corresponded to the competition's narrative description: "Excellent -- Among the Competition's Best." The judges were comprised of LACP-affiliated communications professionals from Fortune 500 companies, non-profit entities, and independent experts in product, service and internal communications.
