FumoniTest WB Fumonisin Testing System

Fumonisins are mycotoxins produced by the fungus Fusarium moniliforme. F.moniliforme is a frequent, almost universal, inhabitant of corn. Fumonisin is thought to cause equine leukoencephalomalacia in horses, pulmonary edema in swine, and human esophageal cancer.The FDA/USDAWorking Group on Fumonisin advises less than 5 mg/kg in horse feed, less than 10 mg/kg for swine feed, and less than 50 mg/kg for cattle feed, while the European Union has a proposal scheduled for final consideration in 2007.

Using monoclonal antibody-based affinity chromatography, FumoniTest™WB is a new HPLC-only test for the detection of fumonisins using wide bore immunoaffinity columns.With a total volume of 3 mL, compared to the total of 1 mL in VICAM’s standard columns, FumoniTest WB allows for a faster flow rate preferred by many laboratories and is the ideal cleanup step for any HPLC.
