Being sure that food is safe for consumers is a major concern of the food industry. For this reason, tests for Salmonella
enteritidis are used throughout the food industry to ensure quality. These tests have generally been difficult to conduct and
have required a long wait between taking samples and obtaining results. Now you can rule out the presence of Salmonella
enteritidis using VICAM technology that is faster and still as sensitive as conventional methods. VICAM's SE Verify achieves this performance with breakthrough technology that will create the opportunity for new levels of food safety. Overview

  • The procedure is simple. Magnetic beads, coated with antibodies that bind to Salmonella species are used to isolate Salmonella and Salmonella enteritidis from samples.

Simple Use

  • Prepare sample
  • Add antibody coated Salmonella Screen magnetic beads to prepared sample in vials and rotate vials
  • Isolate magnetic beads with Salmonella from sample by drawing magnetic beads to a magnet
  • Wash magnetic beads with buffer
  • Spread beads on plates and incubate for 16-22 hours
    • If no positive colonies (black) are detected, the result is negative and the test is done
    • If positive colonies appear, perform SE latex agglutination test to verify Salmonella
    • No agglutination means the test is negative for S. enteriditis
    • Positive agglutination means S. enteriditis, S. bledgam, S. Moscow or some types of S. dublin are present
