VICAM’s Ochra-V™ MAX answers one of today’s toughest food safety challenges with a unique approach to lateral flow strip testing for ochratoxin A. Ochra-V MAX delivers precise, fully quantitative data for ochratoxin A using a powerful pairing of immunoaffinity column and lateral flow strip test capabilities, enabling first of its kind rapid testing for complex samples such as cocoa powder.
Ochratoxin A is the toxic byproduct of Aspergillus and Penicillium molds found in cocoa, cerealgrains, coffee, soy, wine, spices, dried fruit, and other food and agricultural products. Known to cause immune suppression, kidney damage and classified as a probable carcinogen by the InternationalAgency for Research on Cancer (IARC), ochratoxin A is strictly regulated by Maximum Allowable Levels in domestic and imported food and agricultural products across multiple trade regions.
Ochra-V MAX strip tests are designed for use with the Vertu® TOUCH Lateral Flow Reader. Highly sensitive and selective monoclonal antibodies enable quality teams to accurately determine total ochratoxin A levels in cocoa powder at levels as low as 0.5 ppb and as high as 10 ppb.* The simple, easy to use procedure saves time and materials, and the test takes only 15 minutes** to complete, resulting in actionable data to support on-time quality management.
